Research on a platform for precise management of agricultural crops in the semi-arid Mediterranean area.

This project’s main objective is: develop and validate an accurate irrigation platform based on massive data analysis of the real-time state of the crop and meteorology to improve the efficient use of water and nutrients. The consortium will integrate knowledge on fertilizers and irrigation of Mediterranean crops with information and communication technologies (ICT) to develop a solution that is environmentally friendly and economically profitable.

Within the global project, Odin will be responsible for the development of IoT technologies and LPWAN networks, Cyber-Physical Syustem (CPS), DSS platforms and support for Big Data techniques. Its main objective is to achieve more autonomous and easy-to-deploy sensors and controllers with a remote management platform that implements agricultural data processing and provides farmers with accurate irrigation and fertilization decision making services.

The project is under development and is expected to be completed in 2021, its execution will involve an investment of approximately 200,000 euros, has been developed with the help of the Center for Industrial Technological Development (CDTI) of the Ministry of Industry, Economy and Competitiveness, and co-financed by the European Union (ERDF Funds) through the Pluri-regional Operational Program of Spain (2014-2020).
